Technology has been a hallmark of Honda's East Liberty Auto Plant, Honda's first plant in North America with the flexibility to produce cars and light trucks on the same assembly line. This milestone was achieved when the Honda Element light truck made its debut in 2002.

Today, the plant produces the Honda Accord Crosstour, Element and CR-V. The East Liberty Auto Plant was the first plant on the continent to employ low-emission, water-borne paint and the first to use laser welding in mass production. Even the toilets are unique, utilizing recycled water. The water is tinted blue because it's recycled from the pretreated waste water.
