Honda Accord Hybrid Wins 2014 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award

The EPA-rated 50 mpg city Accord Hybrid won a 2014 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award for Best Eco-Friendly vehicle.

The award honors the 2014 Accord Hybrid for its class-leading combination of value, reliability and innovation.

Built at the Honda manufacturing facility in Marysville, Ohio alongside the gasoline-powered Accord, the model features a new two-motor hybrid system that seamlessly blends electric-only, hybrid and engine drive modes along with powerful regenerative braking to provide responsive and efficient performance in a wide range of driving situations. The Accord Hybrid also earned the highest safety ratings from both the IIHS and NHTSA and is equipped with a host of standard features including a rearview camera, Bluetooth® connectivity and the Honda-exclusive LaneWatch™ display.

“For the Accord Hybrid our priority was not only to achieve outstanding fuel-efficiency but also make it fun-to-drive.” said Michael Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations for American Honda. “Being named a Driver’s Choice is proof that buying a hybrid doesn’t mean you have to give up the joy of driving.”

Presented annually since 1983, the MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award has been awarded 30 times to Honda vehicles. The winner of two Emmy awards, MotorWeek is television’s longest running and most respected automotive series. Produced by Maryland Public Television, MotorWeek airs on 89 percent of PBS stations nationwide, and can also be seen on Discovery’s Velocity and the V-me Spanish-language network.
